Beyond the Transaction

This story is a continuation of a family I previously had the privilege of helping.

Previosly, I shared how a family of 10 overcame numerous challenges to upgrade from a 2-room HDB flat to a larger home.

When the Deal Ends, the Relationship Doesn’t

People often ask me what happens after a property transaction is completed.

The truth is, nothing changes.

At least not for me.

The sale may be completed.

The keys may have been handed over.

But I don’t believe that’s where the relationship should end.

One of the families I’ll always remember is a family of ten — a husband, wife, seven daughters and a grandmother.

Helping them move from a small 2-room HDB flat into a bigger home wasn’t just another transaction. It was a journey that took time, patience and perseverance.

If you’ve read their story before, you’ll know how much this move meant to them.

What happened recently reminded me that sometimes, our role as an agent extends beyond property matters.

A Message I Received

A weeks ago, the father sent me a WhatsApp message.

He shared that all five of his children’s applications for the PropNex Education Awards had been unsuccessful because there were simply too many applications.

He wasn’t upset.

He simply said,

“Never mind, try again next year.”

Sometimes, a short message says more than a long explanation ever could.

The father shared that none of his children’s applications had been successful. Despite the disappointment, he accepted the outcome with grace.

I Decided To Do Something

After reading his message, I couldn’t stop thinking about the family.

Without telling him, I decided to write an appeal to our management.

I explained the family’s circumstances and shared why I felt their case deserved another review.

Honestly, I didn’t know whether anything would change.

I wasn’t expecting a special outcome.

I simply felt it was worth asking.

Sometimes, all we can do is try.

The Reply That Made My Day

To my surprise, management replied the very next day.

After reviewing the appeal, they granted a special approval for one of the applications.

When I received the email, I immediately informed the father.

Later that evening, he replied.

“Thank buddy, in God’s grace.”

He also shared that the successful application was for his eldest daughter.

Reading those words genuinely made my day.

Not because the appeal was successful.

But because I knew it meant something to the family.

Following the appeal, management granted a special approval for one application. Knowing that one of the children would receive the bursary was incredibly heartening.

Thank You, PropNex

I would also like to express my appreciation to PropNex’s management for taking the time to review the appeal.

I understand there were many deserving applicants, and difficult decisions had to be made.

The willingness to consider each family’s unique circumstances reflects a culture of giving back and supporting the community whenever possible.

Sometimes, a single act of kindness can make a meaningful difference to a family.

Why I’m Sharing This Story

This isn’t a story about an education bursary.

And it certainly isn’t about an appeal.

It’s about relationships.

Many people think a real estate agent’s work ends after the commission is paid.

For me, that’s never been my approach.

Buying or selling a home is one important milestone in a client’s life, but it doesn’t mean our relationship ends there.

Over the years, many of my clients have continued to keep in touch.

Some update me on their children.

Some ask for advice.

Some simply send a message to say hello.

Moments like these remind me that this business has never been just about property.

It’s about people.

Final Thoughts

A house can be bought or sold in a matter of months.

But trust is built over years.

Looking back, helping this family upgrade to a bigger home was one memorable chapter.

Being able to support them again after the transaction had already been completed became another.

If there’s one thing I hope my clients remember about me, it isn’t the paperwork I completed or the property I helped them buy or sell.

It’s knowing that even after the deal is over, they can still count on me.

Because to me, the transaction may end.

But the relationship doesn’t.

If You’re Planning Your Next Property Move

Whether you’re buying your first home, upgrading, downsizing, or simply exploring your options, I believe every property journey deserves honest advice and long-term support.

If you’re looking for someone who values building lasting relationships rather than simply completing transactions, I’d be happy to be part of your property journey.
