Today, my wife and I had the privilege of attending the special PropNex premiere of Moonlit City at Victoria Theatre.

Watching the story together made the evening even more meaningful.
As the musical portrayed the enduring relationship between Lee Kuan Yew and Kwa Geok Choo, I found myself reflecting on my own marriage and the importance of having the right partner beside us through life’s different seasons.
Marriage is not only about sharing happy moments. It is also about supporting each other through uncertainty, making sacrifices together and continuing to believe in one another when the journey becomes difficult.
Very often, our spouse sees the struggles that others do not see. They provide encouragement behind the scenes, share the weight of important decisions and remain beside us through both success and disappointment.
More Than a Historical Story
What touched me about Moonlit City was that it presented Singapore’s history from a deeply personal perspective.
It was not simply about politics or nation-building. It was also about love, family, sacrifice and the strength that comes from having the right person beside you.
Their relationship reminds us that even the most accomplished individuals rarely succeed entirely on their own. Behind many achievements are people who make sacrifices, provide encouragement and remain present through the most difficult periods.
The Quiet Strength Behind Success
Not every contribution is visible to the public.
Some people lead from the front, while others provide the quiet strength that makes that leadership possible. Both roles are equally meaningful.
Kwa Geok Choo was an accomplished individual in her own right. Yet her influence was often exercised privately, through her partnership with her husband, her care for their family and her contribution during some of Singapore’s most defining years.
Their relationship was built not only on affection, but also on mutual respect, shared values and intellectual companionship.
A Story About the Legacy We Leave Behind
The musical also made me reflect on what it means to leave a legacy.
A legacy is not measured only by wealth, status or professional achievements. It can also be found in the values we pass to our children, the families we protect and the people whose lives are better because we were part of them.
As a property agent, I regularly speak with families about buying, selling and planning for their next home. While property decisions are often discussed in dollars and cents, a home ultimately represents something more personal.
It is where relationships are strengthened, children grow up and family memories are created.
Properties may change hands over time, but the experiences and values formed inside a home can remain for generations.

Lastly, Watching Moonlit City together with my wife reminded me that success is rarely achieved alone.
Behind many achievements is a partner who has quietly provided encouragement, understanding and strength throughout the journey.
Lee Kuan Yew and Kwa Geok Choo’s relationship may be an extraordinary part of Singapore’s history, but its message is something many married couples can relate to: life becomes more meaningful when we have someone willing to grow, sacrifice and walk alongside us.
Sometimes, the greatest legacy we leave behind is not simply what we build, but whom we build it with.
I am grateful that I was able to experience this meaningful production together with my wife 🙂
